A marking knife is used to scribe a line into a workpiece which helps make accurate cuts that can be followed with a hand saw or chisel. This one is double sided, and is made from 26C3 high carbon steel which was originally developed for razor blades, so it is tough, and takes and holds an excellent edge, essential for a good marking knife. The Purpleheart handle scales are attached to the full tang with six 1.5mm brass pins, and the tang protrudes to incorporate a hanging ring. It comes with a leather blade guard for protection.
